I Want A Camel

Alright, so I don't necessarily want a real live camel (though imagine the statement I would make riding a camel down the road to school!), but I absolutely want all things camel coloured this season. A long time, yet somewhat forgotten classic in the palette of fall colours, camel is the perfect colour to update your wardrobe in transitioning from the lazy summer daze to the cool weeks of fall.

Chloé designer Hannah MacGibbon has illustrated everything there is to love about this camel, taupe, beige (whatever you want to call it) colour in her Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection. Just looking at (or drooling over) this season's collection, one can understand the sentiment behind the collection is to make women feel good in their clothes once again. "It's so important to me for women to feel good. Sexiness and confidence come from feeling relaxed in your clothes. It's not about wearing a piece of architecture," says MacGibbon, and this fashion blogger could not agree more.

Growth (grōth) noun.

Please accept my apologies for not having written in quite some time, but I have been busy with some exciting felicity&fritz work. And let me be clear fashion girls, the outcome of what I, as well as the entire felicity&fritz team, have been working on is exciting not only for us but for you as well (seriously, the level of excitement is of epic proportions). So, drumroll please! (is anyone else imagining a drumroll, because I kinda am right now.)

felicity&fritz is opening a second location!
(I told you! Crazy. Epic. Exciting!!!)

For the past four years, felicity&fritz has been established as Kingston's favourite footwear and accessories boutique. The opening of a second location is a direct response to all of the positive feedback we have received from our ever growing list of clients.

So, what's the difference between the two locations? felicity&fritz will be relocating to a larger retail location, while our current boutique will transform into felicity. Think of felicity as the younger version of felicity&fritz. Unlike felicity&fritz, felicity will be positioned more toward the younger fashion girl, doing so with more eclectic styles and price conscious lines.

What will not change between the two locations? Our dedication to providing elite customer service. We love all of our fashion girls and to make every visit you may have memorable! After all, fashion is an indulgence everyone should enjoy guilt free.

Donald J. Pliner Wants To Know What You Ate For Lunch

While in New York City, we had the amazing opportunity to not only meet Donald J. Pliner personally in his Manhattan showroom, but also to view his Spring 2011 collection up close in a private fashion show (I was literally one foot away from the runway with a model practically towering over me).

The view from Donald J. Pliner's New York City Showroom. In a word - awesome.

Throughout the viewing, Mr. Pliner spoke of each shoe adorning the model's feet. Each shoe had a story behind it's design - whether it be function (treads were added to the soles of the wedges designed by Lisa Pliner as she is always running after her daughter) or charity (footwear supporting both Peace For The Children Foundation and 4 Paws) At one point during the appointment, however, Mr. Pliner took a moment to share his belief of how important customer service is.

"What did you have for lunch three days ago? Most people cannot remember what they ate three days ago, but they will remember terrible service six months or a year later. No assumptions when it comes to customer service. Always go above what is expected."

This is exactly how felicity&fritz approaches working with our own clients. We take the time to not only know our product inside and out, but to get to know you personally so that we can better attend to your needs any and every time you visit felicity&fritz.

A very special thank you to Mr. Donald Pliner for inviting us to your gorgeous showroom.

Matt Bernson

While researching footwear lines, I came across Matt Bernson. Named after the company's founder and head designer (an ex-construction worker), Matt Bernson designs women's shoes which are hand produced in artisinal workshop factories that use the highest quality craftsmanship, eco-responsible materials and advanced comfort-engineering. With a company motto of "Sex + Comfort", to wear a Matt Bernson shoe is just that - each shoe holds a sort of understated sexy  feel while being undeniably comfortable.

felicity&fritz is bringing you "Sex + Comfort" with Matt Bernson this Fall 2010!

This is just one of the many styles coming into felicity&fritz from our
new and exclusive line Matt Bernson!

Kelsi Dagger

Footwear line Kelsi Dagger, named after a fictional literary femme fatal. Kelsi Dagger is confident, independent, slightly dangerous and speaks to the accelerating velocity of how the young fashion girl lives today. Needless to say, Kelsi Dagger allows us fashion girls to live the two sides of ourselves - the composed, rule following goodie two shoes and the outspoken rebel who turns heads (for better or worse).

Expect these styles, as well as others, to be at felicity&fritz this Fall 2010!

Jeffrey Campbell

The ten year old, family oriented footwear business of Jeffrey Campbell, has been on this fashion bloggers radar for quite some time now. Based around vintage inspirations, runways trending and the grind of daily life, Jeffrey Campbell has gained a cult-like following of fashion girls from Asia to Canada, Australia to The UK. Jeffrey Campbell, like felicity&fritz, is inspired by the everyday woman and design their footwear to keep up with our busy lives.

Here are some of the styles felicity&fritz is now exclusively bringing you Jeffrey Campbell!

Sole Mio

It's not too often a fashion girl finds a killer pump that doesn't also kill her feet. Anyone who knows me, knows that I have one too many times put up with uncomfortable heels only to go home at the end of the night to sit on my bathroom counter with my feet soaking in my sink filled with scorching hot water.

Enter Sole Mio. A footwear line felicity&fritz is more than ecstatic to now, eclusively, be carrying! Made in Brazil, Sole Mio features not only incredible leathers and on trend adornments, (such as the pretty ruffle and studding shown in the pictures below) but the footwear is unbelievably comfortable!

Despite the ultra high heel, hidden within the shoe is a pillow-like insole that when walked upon is the equivalent of walking on a cloud (were I to imagine what it feels like to walk on a cloud, I would venture it feels like walking in a Sole Mio shoe).

styles shown above are in store now!

I Made A Friend At J.Crew

Working in retail, you become much more conscious of how you are treated by sales associates. You notice when you aren't greeted upon entering a shop. You notice when your pulls are piling up in your arms and still no one has offered to start you a fitting room or grab your size in that shoe. And you definitely notice when the sales associates (when you finally find one) act as if they are doing you the favour by talking to you.

None of this is true at J.Crew. More specifically, J.Crew located at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. Not only was my personal shopper, Nequa, one of the nicest people I met during my visit to the city, it was clear that this fashion girl genuinely enjoyed her work. Not to mention Nequa has style to boot (one of the outfits I purchased was actually inspired by what she was wearing!). Needless to say, if you are ever in New York City and find yourself in this J.Crew, ask for Nequa and tell her your Canadian fashion blogging friend sent you!

ROSEGOLD

While ROSEGOLD is undeniably growing in popularity among the celebrity crowd (consistently featured in People Magazine and InStyle) with it's modern cuts and fashion-forward styling, the line born in Europe in 2003 boasts old-world craftsmanship evident in the hand-stitching and rich materials.

The girls at felicity&fritz are already counting down the days until we get these styles in...but don't worry, we'll share!

House of Harlow 1960

Few celebrity fashion lines have such merit as does Nicole Richie's House of Harlow 1960. The brainchild of Richie was first launched as a collection of bohemian inspired jewelry and has since expanded to include clothing, handbags and footwear. The Fall/Winter 2010 collection is the epitome of boho-luxe style, showing over-the-knee leather boots, perfectly detailed leather booties and sky high heels I am already pining for.

I am pleased to inform you fashion girlies, that felicity&fritz is now carrying House of Harlow 1960 exclusively

Here are pictures straight from New York City, of the styles to expect to see in felicity&fritz this fall season!

Until Next Time New York City

Fashion girlies, I am back from New York City and I have so much to say! Though my four day trip was short, to say it was a busy four days would be somewhat of an understatement. My days were filled with appointments, research, cab rides to show rooms, private line viewings (can't wait to tell you about it!) and (luckily) some downtime shopping.

such an inspiring shop window!

To tell you fashion girls all that I experienced in one blog post would be a ridiculous venture, so I am spanning it out over several posts.

just having finished from an appointment, dying for a Starbucks coffee misto!

What I will tell you in this post however, is to expect a lot of greatness coming to felicity&fritz for you, our fashion girls (it's taking a lot for me to not spill my guts about all of the exciting upcoming things we have for you!).

walked by this Louis Vuitton shop window and had to take a photo.
I desperately want this vest. So if you, or anyone you know love me,
I will accept this as a birthday gift.

For now, here are some tidbits of the trip in pictures and trust me there is a lot of exciting coming up in the next few posts (totally smiling right now...and I am on a train so I am pretty sure people think I am crazy.)

on route back home at La Guardia Airport.

New York City I'm On My Way

I love New York City. I know most say that (either verbally or by sporting the overworked "I Heart NYC" T-shirts), but I really am in love with the city. The first time I visited New York was with my twelfth grade international business class (after having begged my parents to let me go), and while most of my time was spent visiting tourist traps, I knew instantly New York City and I were kindred spirits. (side note: upon returning from my twelfth grade trip, I was able to convince my parents to vacation that same year in the city and the year after we made the trip again! What can I say, I'm great at pitching ideas!)

This time around I am jetting off to New York for work and will hopefully be able to squeeze in some play. I won't be blogging for the week, but when I get back I can't wait to share the details of my trip!

Lots of love fashion girlies!

Same Time Next Year? Yep!

For those of you who made it out to Kingston's Princess Street Promenade, it is clear how much of a success the event truly was! With more than an estimated 100,000 attendees, Downtown Kingston was full of energy! It is amazing how much can be accomplished in such a short period of time (just eight planning weeks!) when you have a group of driven committee members committed to enhancing the Kingston Community.

Next year's festivities will be even greater! Don't miss out! Join the Facebook event now so you can stay updated!
