Money In The Bank, Proenza Schouler On Your Back

If one were to ask this fashion girl what my closet looked like, I would modestly answer "nothing special. just an average closet." However, I now must confess. I not only have a large over-stuffed closet, I also have an overflowing armoire full of fashion. Yes. I am guilty of (gasp) too much fashion.

I am also guilty, and somewhat embarrassed, of having many I-have-nothing-to-wear moment. It's almost like the Murphy's Law of getting dressed in the morning...instead of "what can go wrong, will go wrong" it's more like "what you own is not what you want to walk out of the house in because you don't know what you were thinking when you bought [insert clothing item]". (copyright pending on that little gem of a phrase.)

Enter renttherunway.com. An idea I wish I had come up with due to its true genius. The site works like Netflix only rather than renting a romantically charged chick flick, you're renting a romantically inspired Gryphon dress you can wear on that first date. With rental fees starting at 10% of an items retail price for a four-day rental, you'll have money in the bank and designer swag on your back.

Seeing Red...In A Non-Aggressive Way

I have never really been a fan of the colour red (I like to think this has something to do with the fact that I am an "earth" rather than a "fire sign"). I never wear red, I do not own any item of clothing which is red. In fact the last fashion piece I owned which was red was when Iwas seven and it was a red patent leather backpack my father bought me (yes, I was fashionable even in the 2nd grade).

If however, I knew red could always look this divine, it would undeniably be a staple in my wardrobe earth sign or not.

Also, can we also take a moment to drool over these heels?!

Felicity Told You So

Recently talking to a guy friend of mine, he went on about how stoked he was about seeing a relatively unknown baseball player finally play. As I have little (aka no) interest in baseball I listened but said little. Then he added that he was so stoked because he had been following said player before anyone really knew how great he was - this is when I got interested.

You see being a fashion girl, I am constantly finding and falling in love with new designers or fashions before anyone in my inner circle (or hometown for that matter) either a) uncovers said designer/fashions or b) understands said designer/fashions. Needless to say, I have found myself many times uttering "I told you so".

Case in point - The Gladiator Sandal. I love me a gladiator sandal. When I bought my first pair (a golden metallic pair I still wear today) I was mocked for looking like a Grecian Goddess (to which I naturally replied "Thank you!").

Fast forward three years and this trend is now not only adored but has also become somewhat of a staple in the fashion girls summer wardrobe. The versatility of this shoe is what has helped transform it into a long lasting must-have as it can be worn both casually during the day and more dressed up for a night out. Needless to say, I told you so.

Life's A Beach for Felicity

With the gorgeous weather, it's inevitable to think of going to the beach. But with the beach comes teeny bikinis; a thought, that like many, once made me cringe. Until, that is, I read the June issue of Glamour Magazine. Gracing the cover, Crystal Renn, Brooklyn Decker and Alessandra Ambrosio - three gorgeous models all of different body types rocking swimwear like no other.

Reading Glamour's interviews with the three models, one can't help but be inspired by the confidence these women have in their bodies. Yes, it is their profession to look gorgeous, but to have the confidence they exude in the overly critical world of fashion is nothing short of commendable.

After reading the issue, this blogger went straight out and bought a new bikini (I couldn't help myself). Why shouldn't I, or any of us, want to rock the swimwear we wear?! You see, the problem is that we all get caught up in the notion that there is only one type of beautiful, when really what is truly beautiful is our ability to love ourselves the way we are. Whether you're a size 0 or a 16, go (right now), buy yourself a new swimsuit and show off your hot body! Because, I mean really...every body, is a hot body!

Felicity's Listening...

For any felicity&fritz shopper, it's a known fact that our musical tastes are eclectic. Our iPod is full of different artists ranging from Michael Bublé (swoon), Lady Gaga (pass the glitter please?), Bachman-Cummings (peace&love) and even Justin Beiber (don't judge, he's über cute).

As of late, this blogger is loving Lights. No, not the incandescent type. The singing type. The 23-year-old Canadian singer's most recent album The Listening is currently on repeat. Listening to any of Lights' songs, you know that she is undeniably a new wave artist. Lights not only plays a Keytar (I love this word by the way) but she has the sounds of blasting lasers and rocket ships accompanying her remarkable voice. Not to mention the girl is crazy fashionable, citing The Jetsons as one of her greatest inspiration when it comes to her style.

Right now I cannot get enough of her latest single Second Go - both the song and the music video are amazing. Simply put, Lights is making my days at work a little bit brighter (pun intended).

Fashion Designers are My Rock Stars

Every year, while others channel their self-proclaimed cinematic expertise to decide on which blockbuster or indie should take home the Oscar, this fashion blogger (not very) patiently waits for the CFDA Awards to roll around. For those of you who are unfamiliar, the CFDA Awards honors the top names in fashion from all areas of the industry and related arts.

Typically, when one writes of the CFDA Awards, the dress of attending guests is covered. However, being the fashion girl that I am (while others hung pictures of Justin Timberlake in their lockers, I had the latest runway shots of Marc Jacobs new collection), I would like to spotlight some of the tastemakers we truly (or at least I) could not live without. These are the people, after all, whose designs inspire us to bust through the normal and mundane so that we may, in our own individual ways, infuse our life with the fantastical creations they send down the runway each season.

How We Wear...White

There is something about wearing white in the summer that just feels so good. And I mean really good. Like walking in 5" heels, getting a promotion, snagging the new Marc by Marc Jacobs Pixie handbag, I-have-a-hot boyfriend kind of good.

It doesn't really matter what I am wearing, the mere fact that I am wearing white makes me feel happy.

White not only should be a staple in your summer wardrobe but its a classic that carries through to every season - whether it be a pretty white skirt, a pair of walking shorts or a tailored blouse. And let's not forget to appreciate that which is the plain white T. This fashion blogger is constantly on the lookout for the perfect white T (I have about 8 in my collection...so far). I am so crazy about the plain white T because of how versatile it is - dress it up with a chunky statement necklace and leather mini or wear it with a pair of cut-offs and gladiator sandals.

Moral of the story? I. Love. White.

Felicity's Book Shelf - If You Have To Cry, Go Outside

As a fan of MTV's reality show, The City, imagine this bloggers delight when the shows no holds barred Kelly Cutrone released her book If You Have To Cry, Go Outside...And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You (HarperCollins Publishers)Kelly Cutrone is the founder of PR firm People's Revolution - one of the most powerful PR firms in the fashion business - which she built from the ground up.

I bought this book purely because I love Kelly Cutrone. She not only built her own mega-successful business but did so in her own no-bullshit, tell it like it is, if you have to cry go outside kind of style. Total girl crush on her (in a non-creepy, sort of way). After reading this book however, said girl crush has intensified (still not creepy though I swear!).

I thought this book would show some insight as to how to get into the fashion industry - what jobs you should look for, where you should intern, etc etc etc. I was wrong. Instead what I found was the story of Cutrone's life journey (which in itself is inspiring) intertwined with her own perspective on how any fashion girl, or guy for that matter, can get what they want from their life.

To gush about every chapter in this book, believe me I could do it, would only spoil the read for you. What I will say however is that If You Have To Cry, Go Outside...And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You is extremely inspiring. And  this really is an understatement. As the daughter of a woman, owner of felicity&fritz, who is in many ways my own version of Cutrone, I have always been inspired to be a strong woman. However, as stated in the title of the book, there are some things that my mother never taught me and there are some things that when you hear it from someone besides your mother, it just seems more valid (sorry mom).

I fully recommend If You Have To Cry, Go Outside...And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You to anyone who wants to take charge of their life even if that means checking all preconceived notions at the door. Besides, do you really want to follow the story line telling us to be good little girls made of sugar and spice and everything nice? Yeah. Me neither.

From  If You Have To Cry, Go Outside
"...I believe the world will change only when we change ourselves. And that starts with finding ourselves. And that starts with listening to ourselves, learning to quiet the clamor in our minds and the voices of everyone around us and moving toward what feels right. It means taking a journey like the spectacular and terrifying and ultimately ming-blowing adventure I've been on. I hope that you, too, will choose to have a journey instead of just a life. Actually, I hope it's a full-on expedition."

Dream On? Shop Along! - Valentino and Tiffany's

At felicity&fritz there is a long list of designers we drool over both literally and figuratively (don't judge!). One of our favourites being the legendary Valentino. Valentino's S/S 2010 Collection of handbags are the pure epitome of luxury - oversized lamb-skin leather rosettes, delicate laser cut-outs of flowers, intense ruffles of leather. complete beauty. Not so beautiful? The price. Ranging from $1, 200 to $6, 000 attaining Valentino's signature look is slim (and we're talking couture runway model slim). Enter felicity&fritz - High Fashion Handbags' take on the trend comes in at about $140.00!

Another felicity&fritz inspiration? Tiffany's. Currently inspiring the fashion girlies at felicity&fritz is the Tiffany's Diamond Key Collection, which we would likely sell a kidney for. No. Really. We would personally have to sell one of our kidneys to purchase one of Tiffany's platinum diamond key pendants. But since we kinda like, and need, our kidneys - we'll opt for the key pendants from felicity&fritz.
