Friday Fixations

Truthfully, I have not been fixated on anything this past week (aside from counting down the days of finishing my major! ps seven more work days!). Needless to say, I am exhausted from my Everest-like climb to finish my workload. So, while these images may not be my past week's fixations, they made my Friday morning just a little sunnier.

The ABC's of Spring 2011

For the past couple of weeks, I have guided you fashion girlies through the seemingly fashionable letters (who knew the alphabet was so fashionable) of the alphabet and now we are finally at the end. X, Y and Z required a bit of creativity in terms of wording, but will not fail to whet your style appetite.

There is nothing worse than seeing a woman in an ill-fitting outfit. Whether
it's casual or formal, fit and cut are key. If your favourite skirt or blazer is just that one
size off, take it to your tailor to see if it can be altered to fit your body perfectly.
Seriously, your tailor should be your wardrobe's best friend.
Easter egg pastels and Crayola brights bring me back to grade school and I think we owe it to our sartorial selves to reference back to the time when our greatest worry was learning how to double-dutch (the day I learned to double-dutch the hallelujah chorus chimed loudly). In short, have fun with colour and prints and graphics.
These images make me want to curl up with a zen tea on my leather couch and just (fashionably) relax with no interruptions. Just because you are home doesn't mean you should instantly resort to your college sweatpants. Do yourself the favour and spruce up your homebody attire with, for example, a pair of Marc Jacobs Mouse Slippers or über soft knits .

Friday Fixations

I really only have had one fashion fixation this week and it goes by the name of Michael Kors. All things Michael for Spring 2011 are undeniably swoon worthy. There is something just so fantastically effortless about Kors' spring collection. A sort of life's-a-breeze infused collection that this blogger can't help but want to press the fast forward button to twenty degree, clear sky weather and summer vacations in some hot destination (I'm dreaming of Spain). Here are some of my favourites (soon to be in my closet!)

Happy Friday!!

Friday Fixations

All too often, we forget how wonderful we have it. We look to countries that boast glamour and people who hold celebrity status to inspire us. But what about what we have? What about Canada as an inspiration? What about our own city (can I get a "Holla" for Kingston?!) or our own family or our own friends, bosses, professors as inspiration?

This week my fixation is on the various Canadian publications that I not only have been reading this week, but often times find myself choosing over "the other guys".

The Kingstonist
LOULOU Magazine
The Globe and Mail
Flare Magazine

The ABC's of Spring 2011

For some reason this morning, I can't help but think of the characters on Sesame Street (specifically Cookie Monster) singing their way through these spring trends. I wonder how Cookie Monster would look in a fedora with oversized tortoise shell sunnies. I digress, M is for Moisturize, N is for Nautical, O is for oversized and P is for Perfectly Pink...and C is for Cookie, that's good enough for me!

The ABC's of Spring 2011

"EYE", "JAY", "KAY", "ELL"- letters nine, ten, eleven and twelve of the alphabet and the next four spring trends fashion girls are already longing to put their hands on.

Ready for their close up, new luxe lingerie is making it past the bedroom.

The beginning of spring inevitably is paired with rainy days and these
squishable finds are sure to hold up to the weather

Even if and African Safari isn't on your vacation itinerary, desert-inspired style
is your shortcut to the seasons simplest form of sensuality

Like a virgin or like Madonna in her "Like a Virgin" video, let this textural trend
take the spotlight by keeping with one key piece

The ABC's of Spring 2011

Day two of my guide to the very best of Spring 2011 and the trends just get better and better.

Though espadrilles were once made and worn by Spanish peasants, the rope-soled sandals
were glamourized in Key Largo bringing their earthy charm to new heights

Tiny florals have bloomed on just about everything this season.
From sexy skinnies to hippie-worthy wedges, this trend is a must for the romantics

Remember when you would play dress up in mom's closet? Remember how grown up and pretty you would feel? Channel your inner mini fashion girl and dress up just because you can

Shock your wardrobe with a spectrum of electric colours and if you find this trend shocking yourself, mix it in with your black and neutral staples
