Pressed for Prints

Pressed for prints. Prints Charming. Print-worthy....
Printed pants are having a moment. We saw them this spring and they continue to infiltrate our wardrobe repertoire this Fall 2012 and well into Resort 2013. Really, we've been baring our legs in minis, cutoffs, silk shorts, rompers and dresses, the time has come. The pant is back - big time.

And please note - when I say "pants" I do not mean to reference those yoga pants you've been living in (you know you are guilty) or that pair of jeans you refuse to get rid of (seriously, get rid of them, they are baggy in all the wrong places). No dear Fashion Girlie, these pants are tailored with fitted waistbands, in wool or crepe or silk satin. Brocade perhaps or leather, how about some jewels? Or, in the case of this here post, an array of fabrics with swoon-worthy prints.

Geometric, floral, graphic, animal and abstract prints were seen on the bottom halves of models on runways from DKNY to Helmut Lang, Miu Miu and Stella McCartney. All brilliantly styled to make the effortless transition Sunday brunch all the way to that cocktail party you're bribing the boyfriend to go to. Ahh...the power of the printed pant.

Keep in mind, that while there may be free rein on prints, fit is king. The Grand Poobah, if you will. Here are my Top 3 Tips - Take Note: 1. Avoid elastic waistbands and drawstrings. Their effect is saggy bottom and unless you want to look as if you didn't make it to the ladies room, I suggest avoidance  2. Look for a mid to high-waisted rise; both fair well for many body shapes and have the versatility to go from office to night out 3. Length is a personal preference, but the longer the length the higher the heel.
